What Happens During Oral Surgery?

Unless otherwise arranged, all of our surgeries are performed in the comfort of our surgical offices. On the day of surgery, you should arrive on time and wear loose, comfortable clothing. Be sure to follow all pre-surgical instructions that were given to you during your consultation which may include taking your pre-medication, fasting, and bringing a responsible adult to drive you home. Before surgery, you may be given medication to help you relax. If you are “going to sleep,” or having general anesthesia, please do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery. If you are awake for your surgery, your jaw will be numbed before surgery begins.  Rest assured; you may hear sounds or feel vibrations, but you shouldn’t feel any pain.

The actual length of your surgery depends upon the complexity and type of procedure required. This will be fully discussed with you during your consultation so that you can plan accordingly. Please know that we offer coffee, water, and free Wi-Fi for your companions waiting to accompany you home.
